PADI Freediver Course – Make Your Bucket List a Reality! | Passion Dive

Think of the Freediver course as training that lets you enjoy freediving more safely. At Passion Dive, we only run PADI freediving courses.

The Freediver course is broken down simply into knowledge development, confined water sessions, and open water sessions.

Before entering the water, you’ll complete the classroom knowledge sessions; confined water training takes place in the pool, and open water training takes place in the sea in Cebu.

The knowledge development sessions happen before the pool training, but we’ve left those photos out of this post since they’re not quite blog-friendly.

Training then moves to a pool with a maximum depth of 3m, where you put what you learned in theory into practice.

Once the pool-based fundamentals training is complete and your body starts to get used to it…

…it’s time to head out into the sea in Cebu with a Passion Dive instructor.

Passion Dive is located in what might be the best spot on Mactan (if we do say so ourselves).

Regardless of low tide or high tide, you can walk straight into the sea right in front of the shop.

There aren’t many dive centers where you can walk straight into a house reef like this. ^^

The fundamentals were covered in the pool (confined water), but freediving in the open sea is a different experience.

Open water training takes place in Cebu’s sea, where visibility is excellent even at shallow depths.

These photos show the safety-on-ascent procedure, proper wetsuit and fin positioning in open water, and the descent.

This photo was taken near the end of the course, as the student descends into the depths of Cebu’s sea.

And with that, two days of passionate PADI Freediver training came to a successful close.
